I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be a partner with you in the education of 4th grade students this coming school year at Ankeny Christian Academy. What a joy it is to watch each one develop and learn! What a privilege it is to observe how God is going to work in their minds, hearts and lives.
Let me take a few moments to introduce myself.
I am first and most importantly a child of God. I understood and accepted His death on the cross as a sacrifice for my sin when I was a young girl. God has proven Himself time and time again faithful in my life. It is my delight to know Him and to be able to share Him with others. I pray that no matter what comes into my life, good and bad, God will enable me to say “Blessed be His name.”
I am married to my best friend, Doug, and God has given us two children, Benjamin and Joseph, who attend ACA. I am so thrilled that they have the opportunity to be a part of Ankeny Christian Academy! I want to see them delight in knowing God, understanding His Word, and following His plan for their lives.
From a young age I have known my ministry would be with children. My first babysitting job was at the age of ten, and I haven’t stopped working with children in some way since then. After high school graduation, I studied education. I graduated from Faith Baptist Bible College in 2002 and I was thrilled to begin immediately teaching 4th grade at a Christian school. After three years of full-time teaching, God chose to lead me into other opportunities which included: being a mommy, tutoring, working with a special needs child, working for an insurance company, and in-home child care. Each season of life has taught me something new and deepened some area of my life. Isn’t it amazing how God allows us to learn and grow and then uses our experiences to strengthen us in new areas?
I spend my personal time running, reading (biographies are my favorite), serving in children’s ministries in my church, collecting classic children’s literature, and browsing Pinterest to find new fun projects and activities to try with my children.
I love to teach. I love finding new and creative ways to communicate ideas and make learning enjoyable. I love seeing students grasp and understand new skills. I hope my students will often go home excited to share something new that they have learned.
Thank you for giving me the privilege of knowing you and being a part of your students’ lives at Ankeny Christian Academy this year!
