Hello! My name is Melanie Frericks, and I am the school manager for Ankeny Christian Academy. Earlier in my life, I was employed as the vice president at Goodwill Industries of Central Iowa for many years, but when my children were still young, I felt God’s calling to stay home with them and support my husband’s company. In 2002, God called me to support my children’s school through teaching computer classes and later, assisting the school administrator. Eventually, I took over the human resources, technology, and building coordinating aspects of Ankeny Christian Academy. My two children have attended Ankeny Christian Academy since 2001. Our son is a 2007 ACA graduate and our daughter graduated in 2011. ACA provided invaluable reinforcement of what my children were taught at home. We value the school’s support of the Christian morals and ethics with which we raised our family. Working in the same school that my grandchildren attend is an awesome experience!
I was raised in a Christian home, where my father was a Baptist pastor. I accepted Christ as my Savior when I was 5 years old. However, it wasn’t until I was older that I realized what it was like to make Christ the leader of my life and to let Him control my daily and lifelong decisions. Giving Him control has been an exciting, scary, rewarding experience!
My life verse has been John 9:4: “As long as it is day, we must do the work of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work.” I am also working on being able to let go and let God work. Psalm 46:10 is my reminder: "Be still and know that I am God."
