My name is Marcia Lozada, and I am a middle school math teacher at ACA. I grew up in a great Christian home, but didn’t fully internalize the gospel until I was a freshman at Iowa State, when I realized that all of my sin and shame could be left at the cross. Praise the Lord for redeeming us through his son!
I met and married my husband, Vince, while a student at ISU. We have four kids—teenager through young adult—and a loyal dog, Charlie. We have been members of First Family Church in Ankeny for over 15 years and we have served in the middle school youth, small group, and men’s and women’s ministries.
I began my career teaching ESL kindergarten and second grade for Des Moines Public Schools. I then homeschooled our kids for 16 years. During that time, I taught middle school (a variety of subjects) at two homeschooling co-ops and supervised homeschooling families K-12 for Nevada and Boone Community Schools.
I really enjoy middle schoolers! They are at such a prime age for establishing their beliefs and convictions—and they are a lot of fun to teach! I am so thankful for the opportunity to instill God’s truth into every facet of education. Training students to interpret the world through a Biblical lens and challenging them to grow in Christian character is a great privilege.
