Elementary Curriculum

The elementary curriculum is designed primarily with faith-based resources.  Biblical integration is included in all instruction.  The elementary curriculum and publishers include:

  • Weekly Chapel
  • Bible (daily) – ACSI
  • Reading/Phonics – BJU Press
  • Spelling – Zaner Bloser (Grades 1-6)
  • Grammar – BJU Press (Grade 6 uses A Beka)
  • Handwriting – BJU Press (Grades 5 & 6 use A Beka)
  • Math – Pearson
  • Social Studies – BJU Press
  • Science – BJU Press
  • Health -A Beka

Elementary students have weekly (or bi-weekly) specials in:

  • Art
  • Physical Education
  • Music
  • Library
  • Computer (Grades 3-6 )
  • Spanish (Grades 1-6)

Enrichment activities for elementary students include field trips, class and school-wide service projects, speech meet (Grades 1-6), science fair (Grade 4 and 6) fine arts performances, Junior Achievement, seasonal class parties, and beginning band (Grades 5 and 6).

Elementary students take the Iowa Assessments in the winter and are given DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills) three times a year.  4th grade students take the Stanford Standardized Test in the spring.
