My name is Alyssa Baccam and I am one of the 2nd grade teachers here at Ankeny Christian Academy! I graduated in May from Northwestern College in Orange City, IA. I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education, with endorsements in Reading and Coaching. This summer I got married and moved to the area! My husband and I have been in prayer and are looking forward to seeing what the Lord has in store for our lives.
I grew up in the small town of Albert City, IA. I was raised in a Christian home where my parents modeled Christ’s love well, and taught my sister and I what it means to be servant-hearted. I acknowledged that Jesus was my personal Lord and Savior when I was 4 years old. I gave my life to Jesus at that time and continued to grow in my relationship with Him. I have had the privilege of traveling globally and internationally on service partnerships where I can share Christ’s love with others. It allows me to see how God is working and moving in different communities than my own.
Throughout my time at Northwestern College, I have learned what it means to be a teacher as a servant. I believe that the Lord is calling me to serve Him as an educator and Christ follower. My hope is that Christ is evident in my classroom and that I can show His love to those around me. I want all that I do to honor and glorify God. I feel that the positivity and energy I bring to the classroom is a reflection of the joy I feel from the Lord. The joy of the Lord is my strength!
