My name is Karen Merrifield and I am thrilled to be a part of the ACA family as a third grade teacher! I have previously taught second grade, as well as third/fourth combined grades in Illinois. I also taught third grade for one year in North Carolina, and most recently fourth grade here in Iowa, along with being a substitute teacher for several years.
I graduated from Faith Baptist Bible College in 1998. After graduation I moved to Illinois where I met my husband of 22 years. We have four boys, two of which are out of high school, and two that are in elementary school.
I am so thankful God allowed me to grow up in a Christian home so I could learn about Him from an early age. I accepted Jesus as my personal Savior at the age of seven. My life verse is inspired by my mom, who wrote the reference in the front of a Bible she presented to me for Christmas when I was young. Proverbs 3:5-6 remind me to trust God with all my heart and He will direct my path. I may not always be able to see what He is doing, but I know I can trust Him. I enjoy serving God faithfully at my church, serving in different roles.
