The account of King Josiah’s reaction upon hearing anew the Lord’s Word from the Book of the Law (2 Kings 22:11) holds special meaning to Brenda. “Just as King Josiah was ruined to the core of his being at that moment, so too was I on that day appointed for me several years ago. Over the course of my childhood and early adult years, the Lord carefully and lovingly crafted His story for me in preparation for the day that His Word would fall anew on me and utterly cut me to the heart. Hebrews 4:12 says, ‘For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.’ ”
