Brenda Schilling

The account of King Josiah’s reaction upon hearing anew the Lord’s Word from the Book of the Law (2 Kings 22:11) holds special meaning to Brenda. “Just as King Josiah was ruined to the core of his being at that moment, so too was I on that day appointed for me several years ago. Over the course of my childhood and early adult years, the Lord carefully and lovingly crafted His story for me in preparation for the day that His Word would fall anew on me and utterly cut me to the heart.  Hebrews 4:12 says, ‘For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.’ ”

Brenda’s hometown is Lakota, Iowa in rural north Iowa. She earned an accounting degree from Wartburg College and more recently, an MBA degree from Liberty University. She has served in various accounting roles within for-profit and nonprofit organizations and is currently the Chief Financial Officer for Make-A-Wish Foundation of Iowa. She is married to Mark and has one son, Mitch. They attend Ankeny Baptist Church where Brenda serves as the Sunday morning organist and accompanist. Mitch attended ACA 1st through 7th grade. Brenda is an advocate for school choice so that parents are empowered to choose the learning environment best suited for their child’s learning style.
