My name is Cooper Rodman and I will be the new sixth grade teacher for this coming year! I am a recent graduate from Faith Baptist Bible College right up the street from ACA! While attending Faith I participated in the basketball, track, and cross country teams. Along with that, I spent my time working at HyVee. When I was not at school or work I would spend time with family, which is comprised of Dad – Jeff, Mom – Debi, and younger sister – Rieley.
I found Christ when I was in high school. I grew up in a believing home, where my parents were always (and still do) encouraging me with biblical truth. Although in high school I found Christ, it was not until later that I finally made my relationship personal and actually mine. Over the last four years God has been changing my outlook on life and my purpose here on this earth. God has put me in situations and positions that have been bigger blessings than I could have ever imagined. I currently get the opportunity to share and live out my faith at Grace Fellowship Church on the East Side of Des Moines where I am the Youth and Worship Pastor.
Other than giving me a passion for music and youth, God has given me a love for the outdoors. I have been known to spend countless hours fishing. I love to go camping. And of course I am always up for a new adventure to a new place in the wilderness.
As for my classroom this year I hope to teach the students not just the content knowledge but to love learning. I truly believe that as soon as students learn to love learning they get more out of it. And not only do I want to teach the students to love learning but to love the one that created all of this to be learned about, God. Although the content knowledge is important, the most important information that the students will ever learn is about God and their relationship with Him.
I look forward to getting to know each and everyone of you as the year progresses. I can promise that we will have fun in the classroom and we will get a lot accomplished but that most importantly we will honor Christ in all that we say and do.
