In the past, I was a member of a church that took a congregational oath each time a parent dedicated a baby to the Lord. The oath was that we, the adults, would see to the spiritual development of the child. The oath was a reminder to the church to operate as a family. It reminds me that there are no other “safety nets” for our children except the family and the church.
The world in which we live is a dangerous one. I pray that our Christian families will have high standards to guide the next generation through the dangers of this world. I pray that each Christian family will have their children in good churches where Biblical teaching and positive peer pressure (fellowship) can do their work.
Kids from Christian families are not exempt from poor decisions. They need our support and oversight. We, the members of the Church, must be vigilant. We come together as a Church family to guide the next Christian generation. I want Ankeny Christian Academy to help parents fulfill this obligation. I want Ankeny Christian Academy to support the effort of churches by teaching Biblical thought. I want Ankeny Christian Academy to provide its students with a strong foundation that will give them the ability to go farther. Pray for our faculty and staff as we seek to support families and their churches in providing our students with a Biblical worldview to propel them into a successful life of service to God.
