My name is Steven Stocks and I am the Secondary Math teacher. I come to ACA from ICA and Huntsville, Alabama where I lived for 20+ years. I have taught Electronics, Computers, Keyboarding, Lasers, Fiber Optics and Calibration with the Department of Defense at Redstone Arsenal. I retired in 2005 from the Government and moved back to my native soil.
I am married to my soul mate Mary who is the Art teacher at ICA, and we have one daughter, Christa, who has graduated from Central College in Pella, IA and is also a Math teacher. I was born in Waterloo, Iowa, but have traveled around the world in the military. I earned an associate degree in Business from Columbia College, with a B.S. in Education from Athens State University, and a Masters in Education from Kaplan University. I am currently taking a post graduate class from Converse College. My area of concentration is Math and Business. I have coached Softball in Alabama and participated in Bowling and Karate.
I am truly blessed to come to ACA; as I have had many prayers over the last few years that I would find a school that I could share a learning experience in Math. I come from a very diverse background, with the acceptance of Jesus Christ as my savior in 1984, which was very late in my life. Because of my background I want to be able to give back to a new generation with the guidance of those experiences that I have had during my lifetime. Since I had a troubled youth experience, I want to help make sure that there is always someone there to be a friend. I can provide a unique perspective of the real world and how those pressures might lead individuals astray.
One of my passions is genealogy and this is a hobby that I can’t get enough of. I am proud to say that I am what I would call a shirt tail relative to 14 US Presidents and many more notable individuals.
My favorite Bible passages are Psalm 91, sometimes called the “Soldiers Psalm” and Psalm 23 by King David.
