Elementary Resource & Omega Teacher

Mrs. Ruth Thompson

Hello! My name is Ruth Thompson, and I am very excited to be the Resource and Omega Teacher at Ankeny Christian Academy.

I went to Concordia Teacher’s College in Seward, NE and received my BS in Teacher Education. I minored in Christian Education. When I graduated, I was called to teach at Trinity Lutheran School in Boone, IA. I taught there for ten years but resigned my position when my husband and I started our family. I then became a stay-at-home mom.

When all of our children were attending school full time I began substitute teaching. I have done this for ten years. I have enjoyed subbing but decided to go back to school and get my reading endorsement and also my K-8 Instructional Strategist endorsement.

Over the past ten years, I have missed the atmosphere of a Christian school. I often almost asked students to bow their heads and pray before I took them to lunch. Of course, I couldn’t because it was a public school. But, I am so thankful that I can now do that every school day. It will be a pleasure to pray for children and their families as we ask for help with hardships and also praise God for the blessings that he rains down on us each day.

Teaching has always been my love and sharing Christ with children is my joy.
