My name is Pam Maxwell and I am so blessed to be working at ACA alongside some amazing people! My husband and I live in Northeast Des Moines with our two daughters who attend ACA. I graduated from Faith Baptist Bible College in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, and I began teaching in a Christian school in Indianola, Iowa, the fall of 2004. I taught there until the summer of 2012.

That summer, my husband and I adopted our oldest daughter, Maya, from Ethiopia. I stayed home with her and homeschooled her through her 4th grade year. During that time at home, we adopted our youngest daughter, Layla, domestically.

My oldest daughter began attending ACA the fall of 2018 and I returned to teaching part time at my former school in Indianola. I was there for two years until joining the ACA family the summer of 2020. I am a firm believer in the value of Christian education and in the teaching of young children the simple truths of the gospel. When I was just four years old, I accepted Jesus as my personal Savior. My favorite Bible verses at that time were John 14:2-3, “In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” As a very young child, I realized that God was not preparing a place in Heaven for me because I had not told Him I was sorry for my sins. I wanted Him to be making a place for ME, so in the corner of our kitchen, I prayed and told Him I was sorry and that I wanted Him to forgive me so I could go to Heaven to live with Him someday.

Some of my favorite things in life are my family, hearts, milk chocolate, soft cookies, the desert/cactus, Mountain Dew, and books!!

I am so happy to be teaching Kindergarten at ACA. I have a passion for teaching/training/”mothering” the little ones and look forward each year to building relationships with them.
