Hello, my name is Joel Willoughby. This year I have the exciting opportunity to teach the Bible classes at Ankeny Christian Academy for the seventh through twelfth-grade students. Your child’s education is very important to you. I also am a parent of two boys: Roger and Isaiah. For this reason, I take the Biblical education of your children as seriously as I would my own.
I received a four-year Bible degree from Pensacola Christian College in 2009. Currently, I am wrapping up a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies from Faith Theological Seminary and have also completed two-thirds of a Master of Divinity also from Faith Theological Seminary. My goal is to utilize the terrific academics I was taught to bring the truth of the Word of God down to a practical level for your children as well as still viewing God as the supreme Creator.
There are six objectives for teaching your children in my heart and mind. In no particular order they are: to instill a desire to search the Scriptures like the Bereans were praised for; to critically think through Scripture; to develop tools to study Scripture; to cultivate a simultaneous growth of both head knowledge and their heart; to hear a clear presentation of the gospel of Jesus Christ multiple times; and for me to get to know each child to better assist them in their spiritual development.
Thank you for sending your child to Ankeny Christian Academy where quality Bible instruction is not only provided but encouraged. I look forward to meeting you and to discuss any questions or concerns you may have. May God bless!
