I was born in Miami, Florida. My parents were both Christians and made sure that I attended a good church and a Christian school. I accepted Christ as a result of the ministries of the church and the school. I was saved at age 7.
After graduating from a Christian school in Miami, I attended Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, Tennessee. There I majored in secondary education. I also met my wife, Cindy, an elementary education major. Together we began our teaching career at Dade Christian School in Miami, Florida, the school where I had attended. I taught History, Bible, and Speech/Drama while there.
I returned to Tennessee in 1986 to teach at a public high school in the Chattanooga area. I taught Bible History, US History and Speech/Drama. In my early years there I became interested in school leadership. I obtained a Master’s Degree in School Administration from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and was assigned to be the assistant principal of East Ridge Middle School in the Chattanooga area. After four years as the assistant principal, I was assigned to be the principal. I was the principal of that school for 12 years. During that time I obtained an Ed. D. degree in leadership from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
My interest in becoming the administrator at Ankeny Christian Academy is the culmination of the Lord’s leading to this point in my life. For some time my wife and I have had a desire to move to a new part of the country. My interest, however, had been in collegiate instruction. When the opportunity to come to Ankeny Christian Academy presented itself, the possibility seemed to resonate with possibility. The Lord further directed me with open doors. Today, I am excited to be in Iowa to join the great staff and parents of ACA.
