Hi! My name is Virginia Fawcett and I am the assistant for the Lunch Program at ACA. I joined the ACA club in August 2018, and am excited to see God’s provision at this school. Let me tell you a little bit about myself! I graduated from Drake University with a BA in Sociology, and since graduation I have done various things. God called me to go to China for a year where I taught English to Middle School students. I also worked for AmeriCorps VISTA where I helped manage English classes for refugees and immigrants. Now, God has given me the opportunity to help with the lunch program and substitute teach on the side at ACA.
I grew up in Racine, WI with my two older sisters and younger brother. Although I am thankful for the way my parents raised me, I did not grow up knowing the Gospel. It wasn’t until I attended Drake University that I first understood who Jesus was and God’s love, grace, and mercy. It changed everything I had previously thought about the world. It has only been 8 years since I decided to follow Jesus and it’s been amazing to see how God uses the circumstances in our lives to see Him.
At the age of 14, I became an aunt, and it was the most exciting thing to happen to me at that age. Afterwards, my sister had two more children. Throughout college and after, I sought out different side jobs working with children; in schools, day cares, summer camps, etc. The best thing I love about working with kids is their child-like faith; after all Jesus tells us to become like children in order to enter the kingdom of heaven. But, children still need discipline and correction in order to stay on the right path (just like us).
There truly is no greater joy than coming to love and obey Him, for we are truly His. “Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of His glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, though Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.” Jude 1:24-25
